How FSRS Works

Spaced repetition is one of the most well-established techniques in learning science. But not all spaced repetition systems are created equal.

The problem with traditional SRS

Most flashcard apps use SM-2, an algorithm from the late 1980s. While effective, SM-2 has known limitations: it doesn’t adapt well to individual learners, it over-reviews easy cards, and it under-reviews difficult ones.
